Prof. Gian Carlo Di Renzo serves as Co-President of the New European Surgical Academy and is Professor of Obstetrics , Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Gynecology, past chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Perugia, Italy and since 2012 Director of the PREIS School (The Permanent International and European School of Perinatal,Neonatal and Reproductive Medicine) in Florence, Italy. A leading authority in maternal-fetal medicine, he has built an international reputation for his work in perinatology, pregnancy management, and evidence-based obstetric practices.
Prof. Di Renzo has held leadership roles in multiple professional societies and has been deeply involved with FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics), where he has served as secretary general for 6 years and has contributed to guideline development and global maternal health programs. His expertise in Cesarean delivery, preterm birth, and high-risk pregnancy care has informed NESA’s campaigns to optimize surgical obstetrics and reduce unnecessary interventions.
Within NESA, Prof. Di Renzo brings decades of academic and clinical leadership, strengthening the academy’s partnerships with international organizations, ministries of health, and universities. He regularly chairs sessions at NESA Days conferences and plays a pivotal role in the dissemination of surgical education across Europe, Africa, and Asia.
A prolific author and editor, Prof. Di Renzo has contributed to numerous textbooks, clinical guidelines, and high-impact journal articles. His academic output reflects his commitment to both scientific advancement and the practical improvement of maternal and neonatal outcomes.
